This past weekend Brandon and I had plans which were almost entirely wiped out by storms that decided to roll through the midwest. We were supposed to go downtown to watch the Cardinals host the Cincinnati Reds then we were going to do a little shopping at an outdoor mall and maybe check out a new farmer’s market. Instead, we watched 5 innings of baseball before leaving due to rain then spent the rest of the weekend indoors.
Not that I’m complaining of course, because I was able to film another video for YouTube, sort through the books I plan to donate, and get through another book that’s been on my TBR list for a couple of years.
As it turns out, a lazy weekend was exactly what I needed. Since we moved to St. Louis I don’t feel like I’ve ever really had time to settle in and relax. Every day has been full of to-do’s and it’s been kind of overwhelming. I’m trying to learn the responsibilities of my new job and get acquainted at a new company; get our home in order; set a schedule for our YouTube channel and navigate the waters of benzo withdrawal with Brandon; keep up regular day-to-day responsibilities. A weekend off was actually quite perfect.
I read Stella Bain by Anita Shreve which is a great summer read. It’s a love story set against the backdrop of war which is exactly my kind of book. I curled up with it all weekend and finished it by Sunday night. I can’t remember the last time I read an entire book in two days, haha. It’s been a while.
I’m hoping the weather holds up this week because I really hope to get us to the St. Louis Zoo before next Sunday. We’ve been here for six weeks and haven’t been yet which is completely unlike me. In case you’ve missed it the other 10,000,000 times I’ve said it – I love zoos. In particular, I love giraffes and hope to squeeze in enough time for me to feed them. When we went to Zoo Atlanta the line to feed the giraffes was crazy long and I was feeling way too lazy to wait. Make sure you’re following me on Instagram because I’ll be sure to share all of the zoo and giraffe related goodness as soon as we make our trip.
Today also starts the beginning of the WE MADE TOO MUCH sale at 31 Bits. 31 Bits is one of my favorite places to shop because they are super socially conscious and work with artisans around the world to create handcrafted goods. The necklace I’m wearing in the pictures above came from 31 Bits and is part of their current sale! You can get an extra 40% off all sale items through July 23rd. All you have to do is use code EXTRA40 at checkout. 😉 How’s that for a great way to start the week?
