Confession: I almost exclusively schedule pins using the Pinterest mobile app. I may check in to the website using my laptop once a month. Honestly though, 99% of the time I’m in my pajamas, curled up on my sofa, with my dog in my lap and my phone in my hand. It’s just so much easier! It’s also more comfortable. I used to be so annoyed because I couldn’t schedule pins using the Pinterest mobile app. I ended up spamming my followers with this dump of pins and repins at midnight (but most likely 2am). I was sure it annoyed them and it wasn’t good for promoting my blog. I could pretend it was all about not spamming people but let’s be real, it was #fortheblog and we all know it.
A few months back I finally signed up with Tailwind, which is all the Pinterest-loving rage among bloggers. I loved it but was disgruntled that it required more time using Pinterest from my computer. All I wanted was to pin from the laziness of my couch! Why was it so hard?!? I complained about it for a few nights until I realized I just didn’t know what I was doing. As it turns out, you can pin using the Pinterest mobile app. I just didn’t know how.
Now, I can’t imagine I’m the only person out there that didn’t know this was a possibility so I’m going to break it down for you right here, right now. Ready?
STEP 1: You have to sign up for Tailwind and download the Tailwind app. You’ll use the Pinterest app to schedule but you have to have the Tailwind app for it to work.
STEP 2: Open the Pinterest mobile app.
STEP 3: Browse through your feed or enter a search query to locate a pin you want to repin to your own boards.
I usually browse through my feed first to re-pin the content of the people I follow then I’ll browse around for content related to topics and interests I collect on my boards.
STEP 4: Once you’ve located a pin you want to re-pin, open it and click the share button at the top of the menu bar.
STEP 5: If Tailwind doesn’t appear as an available option to share to (and it probably won’t if the app is new), click the More Apps button as indicated below.
If Tailwind does appear in the share options, skip this step and move on to Step 6.
STEP 6: Browse and find the Tailwind app icon, then select it to open all of your available Pinterest boards.
I use the Tailwind app regularly so it was readily available on my phone but you may have to scroll a little bit, depending upon how many apps you have installed.
STEP 7: Now, locate the board you want to pin to, select the board, then click Schedule. Repeat as needed until you’ve completed your Pinterest-binge for the evening. 😉
I also love to save pins to my drafts. I often have 100’s of pins in my drafts because if my scheduling queue is empty or getting low I can pin from my drafts rather than devoting time to scheduling. As addicted as I am to Pinterest, sometimes I’m just not in the mood.
