HAPPY DECEMBER! I absolutely cannot believe that December is here and Christmas is only 3 weeks away. I mean, wasn’t Halloween just yesterday? Where did November go??? With a road trip to Colorado, Thanksgiving, and all of the holiday prep for Christmas the month disappeared and I didn’t get about 90% of my to-do list completed.
Brandon and I chose “Cherish” as our word of the year for 2018; at the beginning of each
monthI’m sharing a check-in to update you on how we’re living our word of the year. Our goal is to stay focused on taking timeto appreciate where we are in life and being content with our day-to-day.
November – Recap
We drove to Colorado for Thanksgiving and spent the holiday with a few close friends of ours. I unplugged for the holiday so I could be present in our time together and for privacy reasons to avoid showing her home and family on my accounts. I stayed unplugged for about a week after the holiday to decorate our tree, plan holiday baking, and spend some downtime with Brandon and the dogs.
We went to a few light shows around St. Louis to enjoy the start of the Christmas season and we put our Christmas tree up. We put it up the week before Thanksgiving but didn’t decorate it until we got back from visiting Colorado. This year, we went with a white and silver theme and it’s probably the prettiest tree we’ve ever had. We haven’t done much outside yet but we’ll probably get a few lights up this week.
Normally, I don’t put up Christmas decorations until the weekend following Thanksgiving but I enjoyed getting started earlier. I felt like I was able to ease into Christmas instead of feeling pressure to get it all done right away. We’ve also had a few good snow days which have been fun because Wilkins is so cute when he’s running around playing in the snow.
December – Looking Ahead
December is, of course, consumed by Christmas and Christmas plans. We started going to light shows and holiday displays at the end of November. Our local Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony was this past Friday night and we have an ice skating date night coming up along with a Christmas event at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights and the St Louis Botanical Gardens. As always, I’ll be sharing our holiday festivities on the ‘gram so follow me on Instagram if you want to see more about Christmas in St. Louis.
To help you prepare for Christmas, I’ve already shared my gift guide for road-trippers but I want to also share a few of my top favorite items that I think will make great gifts for the people in your life.
- Sold on a Monday
- Horacio Printing Dream Planner
- CocoRoo Total Rejuvenation Coffee Scrub
- Custom Canvas Art
Sold on a Monday is one of my favorite books of 2018. I love really emotional stories and that is one that will tug on the heart strings of even the coldest ice queen. If there is a bookworm on your Christmas list that loves tear-jerkers, this would be a great gift. It’s probably on their TRL right now, it’s been pretty popular lately.
I’ve written about my Horacio Printing planner frequently (I love, love, love it!) and a great Christmas gift. In a few weeks, everyone is going to be sitting down for dream setting and goal planning so a planner is a fabulous idea. The Dream Planner by Horacio Printing has bonus pages to help you offer forgiveness, do a heart check, and connect spiritually. It’s one of my favorite things, for sure.
My new 16 x 20 botanical canvas art is one of my favorite pieces currently in my home office. I used a licensed photo and made the custom art through Canvas on the Cheap. They offer amazing quality at really great prices.
CocoRoo Total Rejuvenation Body Scrub has been a go-to skincare product of mine this winter. My skin has been a lot drier since moving to the midwest and this is one of the best exfoliants I’ve used. It’s made from organic Arabica coffee beans and the caffeine from coffee is used to target cellulite, eczema, stretch marks, & other skin conditions.
I hope you all have a happy December and a great Christmas season!
