Every January I set a new reading goal. It used to be 150+ books per year although with everything that has happened this year I dropped it to 50 books. I’ve already exceeded that goal and I’m closing in on 75. I’ve found that I average about 100 books per year which seems to surprise a lot of people. I get it, 100 books a year does sound insane but it’s actually not that hard to do especially if you don’t stress over the reading part. I started using Audible for audio books about two years ago and it has been one of the best investments I’ve made for myself. If you’re not already using Audible, you’re missing out. I recommend getting set up with your own 30-day free trial right now because you’re going to love it. If you sign up for a free trial you:
- Get two free audiobooks to start
- Get 30% off the price of additional audiobooks
- Cancel anytime. Your books are yours to keep, even if you cancel
So how can you really go wrong?

If you’re not familiar with Audible, Audible is the publisher and distributor of the world’s largest selection of digital audiobooks. You can listen anytime and anywhere to professionally-narrated audiobooks across a wide range of genres, including best sellers, new releases, sci fi, romances, classics, and more. I listen to audiobooks while I’m driving, while I’m shopping, and while I’m waiting at the doctor’s office, veterinarian’s office, post office, or anywhere really. It’s even something my husband and I have gotten into together. He was never much of a book reader but he loves listening to audio books with me. We’ll listen to the books and discuss the story together so we have more to talk about than regular day-to-day life.
It even has me listening to genres I would have never picked up and read on my own. I’ve listened to YA and Sci-Fi novels and a lot more biographies and memoirs. I think biographies and memoirs are my favorite audiobooks because it feels like I’m just sitting back listening to someone tell me about their life. Even recent best sellers are on there so I can stay up to date in the book world even if I don’t have the time to sit and read for hours.
There also a lot of self-help and encouragement books on there which are great for your soul. Sometimes you need to just sit and soak in encouragement and wisdom from others who have come before us; Audible makes that easy. I’ve downloaded books about coping with infertility, finding your passion, and encouraging your aching heart. I’ve also downloaded business books that help with running and managing my blog and my freelance work. Basically, if you want it you can find it on there.
It’s a great deal and has helped me finish way more books than I could ever hope to finish if I had to read them all myself. If you find yourself waiting in line, sitting in your car, or sitting at the doctor’s office waiting for your appointment, this is a service I highly recommend. They’ve had my stamp of approval for years and I know you’ll love them. Try Audible and Get Two Free Audiobooks!
