Our Road Trip Playlist

This post contains affiliate links which help support Honey & Pine. Sometimes I wonder how I survived childhood. I didn't realize it at the time but I was a pretty annoying little kid, especially when it came to road trip music. We used to take road trips from Florida to West Virginia every year to visit my grandparents and other family. For a lot of those years (especially the early ones) I was obsessed with Cabbage Patch Kids. I'd received a Cabbage Patch Kid for Christmas when I was 4 and he came with a cassette tape. I knew every word … [Read more...]

With My Eyes Wide Open by Brian “Head” Welch (Book Review)

After I decided to consider Luck, Love, and Lemon Pie a DNF (did not finish) I moved on to reading With My Eyes Wide Open by Brian "Head" Welch. I've always been a big fan of KoRn and I remember when Head first made the announcement that he was leaving KoRn to focus on raising his daughter as a single dad. I knew that he'd devoted his life to following Jesus and religion played a major role in his new life. I also remember when he rejoined KoRn. This book shares his life as a single dad, his tense relationship with his daughter, and the … [Read more...]

CPO Boss Hogg Discusses the Undeserved Criticism of Gangsta Rap

A couple of days ago I was talking to Vince Edwards (aka CPO Boss Hogg) on Twitter when he shared a pretty powerful essay with me. It was an essay about the undeserved criticism of Gangsta Rap and how it is unfairly blamed for the gang life. I always love his perspective on life and culture and this is one of my favorites because I could relate to it in a way I can't personally relate to others. When he mentions the Wild West I couldn't help but nod my head. I definitely romanticize that era and culture. I think, in a lot of ways, we all … [Read more...]

Interview: Vince Edwards (aka CPO Boss Hogg)

One of the coolest things about social media is the ability to connect with so many people that we may never meet in real-life. That's what happened with Vince Edwards (aka CPO Boss Hogg). My husband (a huge fan of CPO's music) connected with him on Twitter and, much to our surprise, he actually responded to his tweets and messages. I ended up connecting with him over creative writing and business. Eventually I reached out to him and asked him if he'd be interested in answering a few questions for me so I could share them on my blog. … [Read more...]

Walkin a Wire with an American Hero

If ever there was a day for sitting back and focusing on what's important it's a day like 9/11. It's all that has been on my mind for the last few days, especially after listening to the new album Walkin a Wire by Pete Scobell Band. I was invited to the Linqia campaign about a week ago asking that we listen to the album and share it with our readers (assuming that we liked it, of course) and ever since then the events of 9/11 have been on my mind. It's just a continual reminder that we should all count our blessings and keep what is … [Read more...]
