For the first few weeks after we moved into our new place Brandon and I joked that it felt like living in an extended-stay efficiency. There were boxes everywhere, we were waiting for our new furniture to arrive, our walls were undecorated, and it just didn’t feel like “home” at all. I finally broke down and told him I wanted my home! I needed the boxes gone and I needed us to do as much as we could to make the place feel finished. There is nothing we can do about new furniture arriving late or new appliances being delayed but I wanted us to do what we could. We are having company over the 4th of July weekend so my primary focus is on our guest room and bathroom. Even if our home isn’t perfect yet I wanted our guests to feel welcome and be comfortable.
There was a lot I wanted to do but after moving and investing in new furniture/appliances, I knew that whatever I did was going to have to be done on a budget. Fortunately, Target and their Cartwheel app make it easy to stay within my limits. I went out last weekend to do a bit of shopping and pick up the things I needed for our guest bathroom refresh. It was all done in a day and I spent less than planned so I call it a win! I know summer tends to mean a lot of travel and, like us, you may be expecting company this season. That’s why I wanted to hop on here today to share exactly how you can refresh your bathroom on a budget too. This way, you’re ready for your guests to arrive and you can beat that last-minute overwhelm that comes with having to do #allthethings.
5-Minute Fixes to Refresh Your Bathroom on a Budget
These super simple updates will have your bathroom looking fresh, inviting, and ready for company without piling on the stress. You can enjoy your summer visits without worrying about whether or not the guest bathroom has toilet paper because, honestly, who has time to worry about that?
Add a splash of greenery
I’m all about bringing the outdoors in and one of my favorite ways to do that is with greenery. We have a lot of indoor + outdoor plants (artificial + real) so adding it to the bathroom was kind of obvious. I found this cute artificial succulent at Target last weekend and instantly knew it would look good in our guest bathroom. It’s the perfect little size and really brightens the space up for our guests.
Keep a supply of Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® Mega Roll
Speaking of bathroom essentials…we like to keep the guest bathroom fully stocked on toilet paper. It’s awkward when your guests have to come to you and ask for toilet paper because you didn’t keep the bathroom stocked for their visit. The Quilted Northern® Mega Rolls are 4 regular rolls in one so they last longer and prevents a potentially unpleasant experience for your visitors. You can save 10% off Quilted Northern Mega Toilet Paper using the Cartwheel app from 6/20-7/8 and, as an extra bonus, from 6/18 – 6/24 you can buy 3 Packs of Quilted Northern Mega Toilet Paper and get a $5 Target Gift Card!
Replace the towels + linens
It’s also a good idea to make sure you keep your guest bathroom stocked with towels and hand towels. Plush towels just really help make your bathroom more welcoming and relaxing. Of course, we have towels hanging up for decor and it seems to be one of the arguments my husband and I have most often. Even after 7 years together, he still uses the wrong towels. 🙁 I like to hang up the extra plush towels and keep the to-use towels in the cabinet and I think most women agree. I do usually keep at least one hand towel folded up on the counter top so guests know that it’s ok to use. I’ll also hang a second hand towel in the towel ring on the wall.
Supply the essentials
Another simple way to refresh your bathroom is to add a couple of jars or apothecary jars full of bathroom essentials like cotton balls and other basics. Target offers a lot of options for glass jars and storage containers. Plus, you can pick up all of your bathroom essentials while you’re in the store. I like knowing that I always have the basics on hand, especially during the summer when we tend to have a lot more company than normal.
Those are just a few ways you can update your bathroom on a budget this summer as you prepare for all of the extra company this season usually brings. As for us, we have family coming in for the 4th of July and we are just about ready. I can’t wait to see everyone!
