We moved into our house earlier this week and I am so happy to finally be settling into a normal routine again. We’ve moved a lot over the last few years and this move was our most complicated, by far. We arrived in early June and our house wasn’t ready yet so we found ourselves living in a hotel for about three weeks while we waited for the ok to move in. It was far too small for me, Brandon, the dogs, and my plants so we were all really happy to move out. Plus, we didn’t have a kitchen so we had to eat out every day which was bad for our wallets and our waistlines.
I’ve gained more than a couple pounds and have been focusing on setting new wellness goals to work on for the rest of this year.

Wellness is a huge perk at my new office as well. They do a lot to promote good health, quality nutrition, and an active lifestyle. They have a community garden we can all share plus walking trails and a gym in the office. They also give all new hires a Fitbit Flex 2 on our first day which we can use to earn additional workplace bonuses and perks.
I installed the Fitbit app and set it up immediately then started kicking myself for not buying one sooner. I mean, they are like $50 but they are so helpful! I was shocked to see how little I was actually moving during the day and I love that it tracks my sleep as well. In a week I’ve more than doubled my daily activity! To reach my weight loss goals I need to consistently reach 8,000 steps a day plus other regular workouts. I’m reaching the steps goal easily by taking longer walks with the dogs. Our new neighborhood is perfect for walks so it’s a win-win for sure.
Brandon and I both are also trying to be a lot more conscious of the ingredients in the products we use and the food we eat. The struggles we’ve faced through his journey to detox from psychiatric prescriptions has really opened our eyes to how much things can alter and affect our minds and bodies. I’m still researching new options for make-up and shampoo but I recently tried CRYSTAL Mineral Deodorant Roll-ons and I’m loving the Lavender and White Tea roll on.
After applying, it dries instantly leaving no residue behind which is a must for me during the summer. I hate wearing something sleeveless only to find a little white line along the fabric from my deodorant. CRYSTAL Mineral Deodorant doesn’t do that and I love how the Lavender and White Tea scent smells. There are fields of wild lavender everywhere around here and it’s quickly become a favorite of mine. I even mixed up my own lavender herbal tea blend a few days ago. It was delicious, in case you were wondering. It comes in a variety of scents or you can get it unscented if you prefer, either way it forms an effective barrier from stinky bacteria growth which can ruin an otherwise beautiful summer day.
If you’re thinking about trying to reduce the amount of chemicals you’re using on your body, CRYSTAL Mineral Deodorant is a great option. It’s Dermatologist-tested, hypoallergenic and formulated without aluminum chloride, chlorohydrate, zirconium, or parabens, silicones, petrolatum, and artificial dyes.
Of course, I’m also trying to eat better and make healthier choices which is a lot easier now that we are in our own place again. I cut out caffeine, alcohol, and chocolate for other reasons although I’m sure it’s good for my health too. I’m also trying to set other limits and goals to keep me focused so I can reach my target weight by the end of the year. I don’t have far to go so I am pretty confident I can knock this outta the park!
