Cinnamon Maple Latte

At the risk of being banished from bloggerland forever, I have a confession to make. I hate pumpkin spice lattes. I’ve tried them multiple times but they just don’t do it for me. I love pumpkin in scones, muffins, soups, and a host of other items but it needs to stay far, far away from my coffee. I’ve given up on it and turned my affections toward honey and caramel blends for fall. I recently made this cinnamon maple latte at home and it was everything I’d dreamed it would be. I love the taste of maple – desserts, scones, doughnuts, coffee – it doesn’t matter. Plus, I know that Starbucks released a Maple Pecan Latte and as much as I’m craving it there’s no way my wallet would be happy with me if I picked up a $5+ a day coffee habit.

This Cinnamon Maple Latte is perfection. The cinnamon taste is subtle and the maple flavoring is just the right taste of fall. Plus, as long as you have a canning jar around you don’t need any special equipment to make this latte. Play around with the spices in the syrup. I’ve also made this latte with apple pie spice or allspice and nutmeg and found it equally delicious. Another variant is to add a tsp of vanilla extract to the maple syrup, add the coffee and milk, then top it with a praline almond crumble. The key to the flavor is the maple goodness, everything else can be tweaked and modified to your preferences.

I used 1/4 cup of milk for my latte but you can easily increase it to 1/3 cup or more if you prefer more milk in your coffee. It’s super easy!

To make this latte you’ll need:

  1. 2 tbsp maple syrup
  2. 1 tsp cinnamon
  3. 1/2 tsp apple pie spice
  4. 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  5. 8 ounces strong coffee
  6. 1/3 cup milk
  1. Pour maple syrup into the bottom of a coffee mug. Add spices and stir until well-blended.
  2. Pour milk into a microwave-safe jar and heat for 30 seconds, until warm. Add lid to close the jar and shake until milk is foamy (approximately 3 - 5 hard shakes).
  3. Pour hot coffee over maple syrup.
  4. Add foamed milk.
  5. Garnish as desired.
