I have always been a reader. I mean, I remember being in elementary school and setting up my own “library” system for my books so that I could record when I loaned a book to a friend and when they returned it. To this day I still remember lending a book to a girl, Paige, when I was in the 5th grade and never getting it back. It was a terrible mystery book called something like A Murder in Hollywood but it was a cheesy YA novel.
I’ve read hundreds (thousands?) of books and lately I’ve seen a lot of these A – Z lists popping up around the web. The concept is to share 26 books, each beginning with a different letter of the alphabet, that we would recommend to other readers. To make it a bit more fair words like “The” and “A” don’t count as “T” or “A”.
And, if you have any books to add to my list I’d love to hear about them in the comments.
A = All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
B = By Proxy by Katy Regnery
C = The Columbus Affair by Steve Berry
D = Daughter of the King by Carlene Havel
E = The End of Innocence by Allegra Jordan
F = A Fine Imitation by Amber Brock
G = Gibbin House by Carola Perla
H = The Hatmaker’s Heart by Carla Stewart
I = I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
J = Jigsaw Soul by Scott Middlemist
K = The Killing Depths by Martin Roy Hill
L = Love and Treasure by Ayelet Waldman
M = The Magician’s Lie by Greer MacAllister
N = The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
O = Once We Were Brothers by Ronald H Balson
P = The Paris Architect by Charles Belfoure
Q = Queen’s Gambit by Elizabeth Fremantle
R = Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight
S = The Sea-God at Sunrise by G.L. Tysk
T = The Thief by Stephanie Landsem
U = Under the Jeweled Sky by Alison McQueen
V = Vanessa and Her Sister by Priya Parmar
W = The War Against Boys: How Misguided Feminism is Harming Our Young Men by Christina Hoff Sommers
X = N/A
Y = Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes
Z = Zorro by Isabel Allende
Ok, so I am a bit disappointed that I don’t have an “x” book to share with you but I couldn’t think of a single one. I scoured my shelves at home, I searched my GoodReads account (friend me!), and I combed through my Amazon profile. Nothing. On the other hand, I really struggled to choose only one book for letters B, D, F, L, M, Q, P, and T. I had dozens on those letters and it was so hard to choose only one book to feature. Maybe that’s why they call it a challenge? *Sigh*
Do you have any books for me? Anyone out there have an “X” book to complete my list? Help me!
